Teen Programs (8th-9th grades)

8th & 9th grades entering for the upcoming school year

TEEN PROGRAMS

Creative Themes has a program for 8th and 9th graders; this program is our Teen/LIT Camp. This is a combination of a teen and leader-in-training program.  Enrollment for these weeks will have a limited number of participants, and campers are limited to enrolling in only two sessions per summer.

TEEN / LIT PROGRAM

The Teen/LIT Program is designed for teens seeking a camp and team-building experience with their peers. It is a challenging and flexible program based on the interests and choices of the group. This program will use the overall camp to help develop the teen’s schedule of activities. The program will be designed to develop teens’ leadership skills using daily challenges. This one-week program focuses on teamwork fundamentals, including communication, trust, leadership, conflict management, and goal setting.

For the summer of 2025, we will limit teens to a maximum of two Teen/LIT weeks.

This program serves as an introduction to leadership development, using games, initiatives, and challenges to build essential leadership skills. Participants will collaborate with their peers, form strong relationships with camp staff, serve as role models for younger campers, and explore whether they want to deepen their leadership journey at camp. Throughout the day, campers will also engage in a variety of traditional camp activities, ensuring a well-rounded and enjoyable experience.

The Teen/LIT Program at Creative Themes offers 8th and 9th graders an exciting opportunity to take positive risks, grow personally, and have fun while learning. Aligned with Creative Themes’ philosophy, the program fosters an environment that encourages self-expression, mutual respect, and a deeper awareness of their surroundings and peers. This one-week leadership experience focuses on developing skills in team buildingproblem-solvingleadership, and self-confidence, preparing participants for future challenges.

To ensure the program’s success, each leadership group commits to a Full Value Contract, which emphasizes accountability, safety, and respect. The contract includes the following key principles:

  • Adherence to Safety and Group Behavior Guidelines
Participants agree to follow safety rules and group expectations set by both staff and the group to create a positive and secure environment.
  • Honest Feedback
Campers are encouraged to give and receive honest feedback in a supportive and constructive manner.
  • Respect and Awareness
Participants commit to increasing their awareness of behaviors that may devalue or put down themselves or others and work toward fostering a respectful group dynamic.
  • Challenge by Choice
This philosophy allows participants to set personal goals and choose their level of engagement in activities, promoting individual growth while respecting personal boundaries. It empowers teens to take ownership of their learning and leadership journey.

Campers are expected to demonstrate appropriate behavior and active participation throughout the program. Failure to meet these expectations may result in removal from the program.

Through this thoughtfully designed program, teens gain the tools and confidence to become capable leaders while creating memories and friendships that will last a lifetime.
