Teen Programs (8th-9th grades)

This program serves as an introduction to leadership development, using games, initiatives, and challenges to build essential leadership skills. Participants will collaborate with their peers, form strong relationships with camp staff, serve as role models for younger campers, and explore whether they want to deepen their leadership journey at camp. Throughout the day, campers will also engage in a variety of traditional camp activities, ensuring a well-rounded and enjoyable experience.

The Teen/LIT Program at Creative Themes offers 8th and 9th graders an exciting opportunity to take positive risks, grow personally, and have fun while learning. Aligned with Creative Themes’ philosophy, the program fosters an environment that encourages self-expression, mutual respect, and a deeper awareness of their surroundings and peers. This one-week leadership experience focuses on developing skills in team building, problem-solving, leadership, and self-confidence, preparing participants for future challenges.

To ensure the program’s success, each leadership group commits to a Full Value Contract, which emphasizes accountability, safety, and respect. The contract includes the following key principles:

• Adherence to Safety and Group Behavior Guidelines
  Participants agree to follow safety rules and group expectations set by both staff and the group to create a positive and secure environment.
• Honest Feedback
  Campers are encouraged to give and receive honest feedback in a supportive and constructive manner.
• Respect and Awareness
  Participants commit to increasing their awareness of behaviors that may devalue or put down themselves or others and work toward fostering a respectful group dynamic.
• Challenge by Choice
  This philosophy allows participants to set personal goals and choose their level of engagement in activities, promoting individual growth while respecting personal boundaries. It empowers teens to take ownership of their learning and leadership journey.

Campers are expected to demonstrate appropriate behavior and active participation throughout the program. Failure to meet these expectations may result in removal from the program.

Through this thoughtfully designed program, teens gain the tools and confidence to become capable leaders while creating memories and friendships that will last a lifetime.
