SKILLED & CONFIDENT

Creative Themes is a family owned and operated Day Camp. Robert Remis and daughter, Denise Bellavia, have run the daily camp operations for 37 years. Bob has three grandchildren that attend camp every day and plan on carrying on the family tradition (pictured below). Robert and Denise provide on-site, hands-on guidance, involvement, and innovation each day.


OWNER / DIRECTOR

ROBERT REMIS

As a consultant in the areas of Team building, Problem Solving, and Creative Thinking training, Robert adds a unique style to the camp’s philosophy and operation. Bob is also the camp’s lead Adventure Program designer, instructor, and facilitator. Additionally, his skills and experience in magic, juggling, comedy, fishing, archery, canoeing, and outdoor adventure make him an excellent role model for the staff and campers. Providing a safe and creative environment for every camper is Bob’s number one goal. 2020 will be Bob’s 37th year at camp and hopes of many more to come.


OWNER / DIRECTOR

DENISE BELLAVIA

As the Co-Director, Denise has been a camper, LIT, CIT, and counselor. She now serves in the capacity of Camp Director, Admissions Coordinator, and Health Director. As an instructor in First Aid and CPR, she stays current on the camp’s health requirements. Her years of camp experience help her create great camp memories for campers and staff alike!
Denise is a mother of two children, Courtney (22) and Ryan (19). They have both spent their summers with her at camp. At different stages in her life, Denise has been a girl scout leader, PTSA Chair & Co-President, and had chaired many sports booster clubs (baseball, softball, and football).
Denise prides herself on knowing campers and their names year to year. This is what makes CT a family atmosphere. When campers come back each summer, our staff greet them with excitement and astonishment at how big they have gotten. Denise loves to see how much our campers grow up!

BILLY REMIS

Billy started working at creative themes 6 years ago as an assistant counselor, focused on the fishing and canoeing areas of camp. Since then he has worked toward becoming our new lead adventure staff and has run our LIT program for the past two years. Billy also manages the facilities and pools at camp. Billy Studied Mechanical Engineering at Alfred state and has since decided to switch gears and pursue camp as a full-time career and pursue Personal training as well.

Before working full time at creative themes, Billy was a project manager at Harbec plastics. He is also in the Army National Guard. Billy enjoys physical fitness, hiking, and camping.

ERIC KOHL

Eric began attending Creative Themes Day Camp in 1992. He was a camper, leader-in-training, counselor-in-training, general counselor, lead counselor, and is currently an Assistant Director. Eric studied Physical Education and Health Education, earning his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the State University of New York at Brockport. In 2019 he was named Adapted PE Teacher of the Year by New York State.

When not at Creative Themes, he teaches Physical Education at Monroe #1 BOCES and is a wrestling coach at Fairport High School. Eric currently lives in Webster with his wife. In his free time, Eric loves the outdoors! He enjoys, fishing, hiking, camping, mountain biking, and anything else that gets him outside and moving!

Eric uses his background in physical education, adventure education, improv comedy theater, and creativity to provide positive and exciting experiences for campers and staff. At Creative Themes, Eric loves to share his knowledge of games and activities to engage and educate campers and the staff.

DANIELLE CHIESI WINGO

Danielle is in her 21st year as a Physical Education Teacher in the Rochester City School District, currently teaching at World of Inquiry School #58. Additionally, Danielle is a physical education mentor and peer reviewer and coaches the following teams: boys’ varsity volleyball, modified boys’ basketball, modified girls’ basketball, and JV golf. She was recognized as the 2010 Willie W. Lightfoot Youth Advocate of the Year and 2016 New York State Western Zone Adapted Physical Education Teacher of the Year.

Danielle co-owns Kidden Prep, LLC, where she leads the Organizing Services segment of the sister-owned company. Danielle enjoys traveling with her husband, is an avid sports fan, and enjoys bike rides along the canal path, orienteering, playing basketball, and snowshoeing.
Danielle began at Creative Themes in 2002 as a lead counselor and has been in her current role as Assistant Director for 12 summers. She loves how campers grow into confident, independent, and self-sufficient life explorers because of their Creative Themes experiences.

ALI SMITH

Ali has attended camp for 10 years as a camper and 11 years as a member of the awesome CT staff team. Ali attended SUNY Geneseo for her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education and Special Education as well as her master’s degree in Literacy.
Ali works as Special Education teacher at Gananda middle school where she also coaches the Varsity Track and Field team

Ali is also a volunteer ski patrol at Bristol Mountain and uses her first aid skill around camp when needed. Ali enjoys running and hiking with her dog Shanti. At camp Ali enjoys working as part of the Creative Themes adventure team, playing games on the game field and canoeing around the pond. She likes to find ways for both younger and older campers to build friendships and explore their surroundings.

LIZ DAVIS

Elizabeth (Liz) spend 3 summers as a lead counselor at Creative Themes, now is will start her 2nd summer in her cuurent role assisting our Leads through out the summer with her experience and knowledge. A Syracuse native, Liz was a standout basketball player for Nazareth College where she earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees in Speech-Language Pathology. After graduating from Nazareth College, she went on to be a coach for several high school sports including basketball, softball, and girls lacrosse. She also was an assistant coach and mentor for the women’s basketball program at Nazareth College for 2 years. She now has taken on the challenge of coaching her daughters youth team.

Currently, she is in her 15th  year of practicing as a New York State licensed Speech Language Pathologist and is employed by the Rochester City School District. She has a great deal of background knowledge in the areas of Autism and other developmental disabilities, as well as additional factors that impact a child’s ability to effectively communicate and function in his/her environment. Liz lives in the Rochester area with her husband of 13 years and their two beautiful daughters, and one crazy Golden Retriever named Yogi. Liz loves spending time wither her family and friends, especially anytime she can get to the Adirondacks!!!


LEAD WATER SUPERVISOR

CINDY KOHL

Cindy has been working at the pool here at Creative Themes for quite a while! Her two sons, Eric and Adam, started out as campers and continued on to become counselors. Cindy recently retired from Monroe #1 BOCES where she worked as the Pool Director and Adapted Physical Education Teacher for 35 years. When she is not working at Creative Themes, Cindy is a Lifeguard and swim instructor at Perinton Recreation.



COURTNEY BELLAVIA

Courtney has attended camp since she was a baby in the baby pool!! Courtney has been a camper, LIT, CIT, counselor, and now serves as one of our lead counselors. With her knowledge of camp, Courtney adds a lot of experience to our leadership team, through her years at camp.

In high school, Courtney was an integral member of the Webster Schroeder Softball team. Courtney is currently Athletic Trainer at Florida State University where she is pursuing her graduate degree. Outside of camp, Courtney enjoys spending time with her family and friends, attending music concerts, and taking care of her little cousins!


RYAN BELLAVIA

Ryan has been a part of camp since birth and has experience as a camper, LIT, CIT and currently a counselor. Much of his role consists of making sure camp is seeing the world through the eyes of younger staff.

As a family member, he has many-valued roles within the camp and is always around to lend a helping hand. Ryan played both varsity football and baseball in high school and now enjoys using his skills with campers. Ryan is currently in his first year studying Business at Ohio University.
